Team Leader Check List

- Get 15+ people to register for my teamYou can have 15-29 people on a team. Less than 15 and you need to merge with another small team. 30 and the team needs to split.
- Learn to use the danceathon.org website for team management and communication.You can invite members, kick off members, disband your team, email your team members and more. Links to manage your team are on YOUR participant page.
- E-mail my teamLog in. Click your team name under “Manage your team”. Click “Email your Team” Write your subject and message. Click send. If you prefer to send from your email client you can copy and paste the team email list from this form.
- Schedule a team meetingUse email to set up a team meeting. Some teams get together in person and some are happy communicating online.
- Have team meetingTake notes for the team members that cannon attend. Email them the notes.
- Team Baton assigned to __________Your custom baton is used to keep track of the official person representing your team at all times. The ethics of our event depend on us actually keeping at least one team member on the dance floor for 24 hours. The baton should be something that is easily passed from dancer to dancer, and something that will not inhibit partner dancing. Be creative!
- Cancer Display assigned to __________Choose 1 type of cancer to put on display. Include some details about the type of cancer, and a clear message on how to detect that type of cancer early. As people visit your booth to dance they should be educated by your cancer display. Keep in mind that dancers may look at it briefly. Start your research at cancer.org
- Dancing Schedule assigned to __________One person should be in charge of creating and posting and policing your team member’s dancing schedule. Your team members should sign up ahead of time to ensure that your team can keep dancing for 24 hours. Click this link for a google docs template.
- Remembrance display assigned to __________This is optional. If your team members are dancing for people they have lost to cancer you can create a remembrance board with pictures and names for everyone to see. This can help keep your team motivated with they start to wear down.
- Team Banner brought by __________Your team booth needs an identity. Have somebody who is crafty make your team banner. Be creative. If you are stuck and need banner paper you can pick some up at ATOMIC Ballroom, our home base. Your banner can hang off your 6 foot table or along your canopy.
- Booth table will be brought by __________You will want a table to display your wares and to organize your belongings. 6 foot table is recommended but its up to you. Your booth square is 10′x10′
- Booth Canopy will be brought by __________No it’s not rainy or sunny but a canopy will provide a home for your team. The canopy is optional but most teams make good use of it.
- “A dance to Remember” song __________Read this article. Gather dedications from your team members to be read by the announcer. Choose a song for the entire dance-a-thon to dance to in dedication to those that have been affected by cancer. This will also be an opportunity to have your team announced and to announce things or services you are selling. You can bring a CD or iPod to the DJ booth. Times are chosen 1st come 1st serve at the DJ table.
- Reach team donation goal of $ __________Encourage your team members to raise more then the minimum.
