Le Tour de Dance
The 24 Hour Cancer Dance-A-Thon is proud to announce the first year of Le Tour de Dance: a multi-stage Jack and Jill competition fundraiser for the event. Through this fun competition, we hope to both raise awareness of the event, as well as create another avenue for a fundraising.
Le Tour de Dance is an Open Strictly Jack and Jill Lindy Hop competition with 5 stages of competition, one stage of qualification, per month. The rules of the competition are easy. At each stage of the event, jacks and jills will be paired randomly through a slow, medium and fast tempo song. At least two Jacks and two Jills from each stage will qualify for the final, the Dance de Triumph to be held during the 24 Hour Cancer Dance-A-Thon. Partners will be randomly drawn and rotated after each song. The entry fee for the competition just $5 per person, with all of the competition fees being donated to the Dance-A-Thon. Participants are encouraged to attend multiple stages of qualification, until qualifying for the finals.
Prizes:
The first place dancers will be awarded Yellow/Pink Jerseys.
Winners of the Tour De Dance will each receive a weekend pass to the San Luis Obispo Lindy Exchange, a t-shirt from the DC Lindy Exchange, and get a choice between a Kevin and Jo 4-DVD Set and Jitterbal V2.0 5-DVD Set.
Stage Five will be held this Friday at 10:30pm at Atomic Ballroom. Michael Siebert and Chris Do will be DJ’ing this fun competition, and their music will surely help to inspire your best dancing.
Finals will be at 1:30pm at the Dance-a-thon.
